About
Seeing people as God sees them
Serving with Dignity is a faith-based approach to serving others, created by Phil Hissom out of more than thirty years of walking alongside people.
He set out to change lives. God changed his heart.
For more than thirty years, Phil Hissom has walked alongside people in churches, neighborhoods, and communities believing he was helping transform the lives of others. Instead, he discovered that God was using every conversation, every relationship, and every act of service to transform his own heart.
Serving with Dignity invites you into that journey. Through twelve timeless principles, including mercy, faith, compassion, hope, love, and dignity, it shares the lessons God taught him about seeing people differently, trusting more deeply, and finding freedom in surrender.
This isn’t a book about becoming a better volunteer. It’s about becoming a different person.
Born at the POLIS Institute.
Phil founded the POLIS Institute in 2009 to champion human dignity and further place-based philanthropy in Central Florida. POLIS is a community-based think tank for impactful philanthropy, and Serving with Dignity originated through its work alongside churches, nonprofits, and community leaders.
